CNR-IBE (Institute for BioEconomy of the National Research Council of Italy) is a center of excellence committed to building a more sustainable future through in-depth knowledge of natural resources and territories. With six locations across Italy (Florence, Bologna, Sassari, San Michele all’Adige, Catania, and Rome) and a staff of approximately 200 researchers and technical experts, the Institute is active in a wide range of fields, from agriculture and biotechnology to tourism and local development.
IBE specializes in data analysis and the development of digital tools and data-driven governance models, which are essential in supporting public authorities and local territories in making informed and sustainable decisions. Its multidisciplinary approach enables the Institute to address environmental and social challenges with concrete and innovative solutions. With extensive experience in managing European projects, IBE helps transform scientific research into practical actions for the sustainable development of tourist destinations and local systems.
Within the EPIC project, CNR-IBE plays a key role in monitoring and evaluating the impacts of industrial tourism–related actions, providing strategic expertise to enhance the quality of tourism experiences and the resilience of territories. It delivers data analysis tools and data-driven governance frameworks to support the sustainable development of tourist destinations and coordinates the project’s monitoring and evaluation system.
